It's now the end of December 2005 and the weather has finally closed in.  We look forward to continuing with the landscaping in the New Year.  In the background you can just see the outline of the parterre, deep dug and left open for the winter.  This will be the first project in the spring - 100 Box plants are waiting in the poly-tunnel for planting out. Now it's time to put our feet up !

Here we are again, it's now getting towards the end of March and time for an update on the work completed over a very dry, but very windy winter !

The pond is now complete and planted.  The early sun has encouraged the algae to grow, just visible are pouches of Barley straw the natural way to clear a pond.

Also during the Winter, the woodland area has undergone some serious management and clearance ready to see what comes up in the spring.  Now there is a lot more light to encourage the plant growth, together with thinning of weaker trees to let the stronger trees flourish. New planting of native trees has begun, together with additional hedging to the perimeter of the wood.
And finally in this update we have finished the parterre.  The edging and shingle are in place.  The poor clay soil improved with manure and finally planted with 100 box plants and a cast iron urn in the centre to finish the scheme off.  Later on in the season we will be planting the four quadrants.
And yes, we are ready for the New Season to begin, polytunnels completed and new stock well established.
Despite the weather, planting has continued and as July approaches the garden begins to look established.
