January 2007 and a wonderful sunset behind the leafless Willow tree.
2007 sees us reflecting on the design so far. No Garden should or can remain the same year after year.  Some areas will work and others won't.  We felt that two areas of the Meadow lacked interest since the soil in these two areas remains fertile and the course grasses tend to swamp the wild flowers as the season progresses. There were no Orchids in this area so we decided to create two additional borders.
The first border to be created comprises  Prairie planting including grasses, bamboos, crocosmia, echinacea, verbena and red hot pokers.  This image was taken 4 months after planting and shows what can be created within only one season. Preparation is essential and this border alone received 12 barrows of composted organic material prior to planting.
The second border, again on a section of meadow is shown later in the season.  Plants within this border have been selected for their winter interest having various bark colours and strong form which can  add height and visual interest quickly to any border. The border has been cut into a crescent shape which mimics the outline of the meadow.
The following shots show the re-created bog and alpine planted area.  Incorporated into this border is a new water feature with slate water fall.

Mid June sees the arrival of a Conservatory to enable the Garden to be enjoyed throughout the season.  The area around the new conservatory is landscaped with decking, Kitchen herb garden and Mediterranean planted pots

The conservatory nears completion and already seems to blend in with its surroundings.

It is now mid summer and the borders are looking their best and filling with colour so here are a few shots showing the rewards from previous years work.
