| Another year rolls in and we
again turn to the Garden design. Two areas to be worked on this
year, include the completion of a themed Japanese area, and the area that didn't work for
us last year, the Gazebo.
|
 |
It's February and with temperatures down to minus 7, the best place
to be is inside ! |
 |
Despite the cold weather here are some delights from the Woodland and
shaded parts of the garden. |

To create the Japanese
area, having designed
it out on paper, the
area is marked out and the turf is removed................. |
|
|
The structural plants
including Acers, formal Box and Azalea's are planted. The area
will then be covered in ground cover fabric before being top dressed
with shingle ................
This shot was taken in late Autumn and still shows the leaves on the
Acers. |
 |
| The scheme is now almost
finished, only the Tea House and Arbour to construct. The design is based on a
traditional Japanese theme of an arboured entrance and defined path
passing plants of interest before arriving at the Tea House. The
materials for construction have been chosen to add a Japanese theme to
the area whilst reflecting and harmonising with the structures in other
areas of the garden. |

We have always felt that the
Gazebo was never really part of the garden, more placed upon it. To this
end we have created a further border that encompasses the gazebo and which
will be planted with bold plants with strong structure. The plants have
been set out ready for planting in early Spring. |
 |
 |
It's now the middle of May and after a slow start to the
season, the Garden is now well established, so we have added some more
pictures for you enjoyment. |

The Japanese garden is now
complete and the Acers seem to be quite content in their new
surroundings. The Tea house and arch are now in place and provide
a pleasant location to sit and read. You can see the Azalea's in full
flower although they are still small. |
